guardian angel vs. canola oil
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Should a person think that her guardian angel will not be at her side guarding her if she does not pray for this? No, for he is tasked with this job by God Himself; the prayer says as much in its salutation; it is the identity by which we address this angel: the one to whom God's love has committed me, my guardian.
What then is this prayer for? It is to change a person's own mind and heart. At every moment this angel stands ready to prompt us to do good and to avoid evil; to love God and to act with love toward our neighbor for His sake; in a word, to become saints. It is our own will that resists the process of sanctification as much as grease cooked on to a pan, layer on layer, resists gentle scrubbing1. This prayer is an act of the will turning towards God: let me be guided, let me be ruled by this gentle hand, by this faithful guardian who leads me towards the One who is most lovable and who has created me for Himself.
O Lord! I thank You for Your kindness toward me and I beg that You will make my heart docile to the prompting of Your Holy Spirit and to the guidance of the angel in whose loving charge You have placed me from my birth. Amen.
the nonstick pan in which I make pancakes continually defeats my efforts to return it to its original not-tacky state in every area that is not the footprint of four pancakes

Thank you.
